Dine About Town With ASMBLY HALL

...
Last week, one of our Sophisticated Prepsters Robin-Birdd had a chance to check out one of San Francisco's Dine About Town Restaurants Roka Akor. Dine About Town occurs twice a year during SF's restaurant week, featuring 3-course dinners for $36.95, and 2-3-course lunches for $18.95-- almost a 25% off discount on regularly priced menu items.  Read on to see images of a few savory dishes taken by our Sophisticated Foodie..

Sandwiched between North Beach and the Financial District, Roka Akor is nicely tucked away in a corner brick building along with a few cute high end interior design firms and art dealers.
Opposite of its hard exterior, the interior is composed of pure warmth and vibrancy. Tones of pink and orange linger throughout the restaurant, reminding us of a sophisticated tropical vacation. The kitchen is fully open, giving customers a glimpse into how their dishes are being created.
As we sat down to order, we notice how organized and efficient the restaurant staff is. The waiters constantly refill our glasses, and since each staff member is required to taste every item on the menu, their opinions on various dishes are real and honest. Keeping Asmbly Hall in mind, we paired our favorite pieces from the store with some of the dishes we savored that night...

appetizers:
HAMACHI SERRANO CHILI ROLL
BUTTERFISH TATAKI
WHITE ASPARAGUS and YUZU
These two appetizers remind us very much of Blade + Blue's Forest Green plaid tie. The mix of green on white with a hint of orange from the yuzu sauce matches fairly well back to this tie.
entrees:
PRIME BEEF FILET
CHILI GINGER SAUCE
This first entree brings to mind another Blade + Blue piece, the Brian plaid flannel. The quality of the beef along with the 24+ hour simmered chili ginger sauce brings wonders to your pallet! The brown hues mixed with the heavy goodness of the prime beef filet makes us think of the Brian flannel.

YUZU MISO MARINATE BLACK COD
wrapped in
JAPANESE MAGNOLIA LEA
This entree is plated very beautifully. The Yuzu Miso sauce is intentionally smeared with a sprinkle of sesame seeds, similar to an impressionist painting that is very sophisticated.
This type of sophistication reminds us very much of Everly's new Spring collection.
Colors of peaches and light pink tones pair perfectly with the picketed red onions,
buttery hues of the black cod and creamy miso sauce.

desserts:
WARM VALRHONA CHOCOLATE CAKE WITH SIGHTGLASS ESPRESSO ICE CREAM
This warm but cool dessert just melts in your mouth. The espresso colors flow from black coffee tones to a fluffy marshmallow like goodness. This dessert is beyond sophisticated, in the same way that

YUZU AND FRESH BERRY PAVLOVA
This dessert's mix of crunchy (from the pavlova) smoothness is the life of the party! A perfect way to end the dinner. The vibrant raspberries topped with the darkness of the blackberries, smothered in the yuzu sauce and fluffy whip cream, pairs very well with our Blade + Blue brick red flannel tie.
